Skegness Pier Angling Club – 15-09-2015

by Chas Tibble

There was a ding dong battle for first place between two top class anglers, in the latest Skegness Pier Angling Club (SPAC) match, held in perfect conditions at Moggs Eye. A tiny whiting on his last cast proved to be the match winner for Corby ace Paul Marshall, whose 7 whiting and 7 flatfish measured a total 320cm. This gave Paul his third SPAC match win on the trot and added the Ron Scott trophy to his ever growing hoard of silverware. Grimsby’s Garry Hutson was hampered by a bad back, but matched the winner fish for fish until that vital last cast, eventually having to settle for runners up spot with a 13 fish mixed bag for 311cm. Wrangle’s Alan Steadman started to find a bit of form at last, taking third place with 5 whiting and 4 flatties for 254cm. Withern’s Fred Donner was amongst the prizes again, winning the cash for the longest round fish with a 51cm silver eel. Grimsby star Adie Cooper took the longest flatfish prize with a 30cm flounder.
