Skegness Pier Angling Club – November 2014

by Chas Tibble

Good catches continued in the latest Skegness Pier Angling Club (SPAC) match held in front of Lakeside Leisure at Trunch Lane. Despite the strong wind and heavy rain showers, Friskney’s Mark Holmes made the most of his long distance casting skills to run out easy winner, with fifteen whiting and thirteen dabs measuring 792cm in total. Some way behind in second place was Alan Steadman from Wrangle, with twelve whiting and seven dabs for 571cm.

Despite suffering a puncture on his way to the match, Kettering’s Jim Robinson managed to frame again in third place, with an eighteen fish mixed bag measuring 509cm. He also took the longest flatfish prize for the second match on the trot, with a 32cm (15oz) flounder. Fourth placed Fred Donner caught the only cod of the match, winning the longest round fish prize with his 45cm (2lb 5oz) sample.
