Starting a record fish list here for PlanetSeaFishing users.

The fish don’t have to be caught in UK or Irish waters ie it’s open to all.

No formal forms, just need the following information accompanied by a decent photo for ID purposes (if the fish is weighed in a comp not photo required) -

Species Name, Angler’s Name, Weight, Where caught, if from a boat add name of boat, Date of Capture.

Skate, tope and sharks can be estimated weights from charts.

There will be sections for shore, boat and kayak.

To start it off -

Shore

Species   Weight   Location   Captor   Date
Red Mullet   0.623 Kg   Tynemouth Pier   Doug Spivey   Sep-08
Bass   6.633 Kg   Southbourne   Jason Bardsley   Jul-08
Plaice   1.474 Kg   South Sheilds   Dave Burton   Jul-08
Turbot   1.814 Kg   Cullen   Kyle Simpson (jnr)  Apr-08
Common Skate   78.925 Kg   West Loch Tarbert   Gillies MacKenzie   Oct-08
Common Skate   78.925 Kg   West Loch Tarbert   Geoff Peterson   Nov-08

Kayak

Species   Weight   Location   Captor   Date
Pollack   6.832 Kg     Mark Harding   Aug-08

Boat

Species   Weight   Location   Captor   Boat
Bass   6.917 Kg   Weymouth   Andy Wells   Offshore Rebel
John Dory   1.077 Kg   Carloway   Graham Forbes
Pollack   6.123 Kg   Scrabster   Bryce Watson
Common Skate   90.718 Kg   Clew Bay   John Costigan   Shamrock 1
Smoothhound   11.453 Kg   Holyhead   Gary Hobbs   My Way

The lists will be up in the magazine shortly, in a tidier format!

For those species hunters out there, you can download a species list here - http://www.planetseafishing.com/downloads/species-list.pdf

Mostly UK and Ireland fish in list but happy to add more from other countries if there’s a demand.

If this proves popular we will organise prizes for the best in each category. Would be interested to know if we should look at running this Jan - Dec? Would welcome suggestions on the criteria we might use to identify the best in each category.

Wonder how long it will take the opposition to poorly plagerise this initiative????

Coming to get ya

Maybe we can build in a quick click auto converter and have weights in both metric and imperial? We will look into it.
