Hiya, well, Its been stripped, and waiting for the new coat of paint to dry,. I couldnt believe the amount of salt build up, even under the gasket… confused

Canny do anything more tomorrow, got the grandkids over for the weekend. big surprise ..but Monday!!  grin

Look at the pics, see what I mean about corrosion…

Well, The BIG test was this evening, i’m actually not long back. As the “slip” is really just a steep grassy slope down to the water, I had arranged for a couple of mates to meet me, so I could get a hand if needed recovering the boat…
Anyway, was chatting with Lex, who said he held the Drumbowie water speed record on his Strikeliner with a 30hp Honda….I replied, “aye, mibbes for the next two minutes”.. wink  while thinking, please god, let the engine at least START!!!!

It DID…!!!!!! first click of the key, absolutely briiliant, I could always sell the powerhead if it all goes wrong!!  big surprise smile then found I could’nt get any movement when putting it in any gear, a quick look showed the prop was more out than in the water…D’oh…nerves!! Must have been,.. rolleyes

So, dropped the engine, and stuck it into forward…straightened it up, and applied some welly…..and Geeezussss…I was nearly out the back door…wahay!!!! Compared to what it was before the repair.., the startup, noise ( lack of), and acceleration is Wayyyy better than before….

The boat runs perfect….faster, an quieter than ever before…so, had a few trial runs up the loch, getting it warmed up, and had to get used to using a different trim setting, as I had dropped the engine a couple of inches too smile

So, I’m now one very happy boat owner ...and would like to thank everyone involved in the repair of the engine…I’m still smiling as I write this blurb.. grin

ChriP, Surrenuff, HappyDude, Davy Holt, et all ....thanks for everything chaps… cheese

BTW, the car did a sterling job too, boat on Trailer,  LOL 4WD low box, and off up the slope..

AND, Alien One now holds the Drumbowie Water speed record.. cool grin

NOW, THAT sounds like an Oscar acceptance speech.. cool smile

Hi Ian, I’m just amazed that it worked after me doing the work, its been years since I did anything like that..

What really worried me, was spending thousands on the engine when I bought it, then knacking it up, by doing something wrong to it….

.....but, on hind sight, with Chris being on the other end of the fone, I couldnt go wrong.. grin

I’m still smiling BTW… cheese
