As you are probably aware, there is a proposal to open a commercial Bass fishery in Irish waters. To support our case that this fishery should not open we are collecting data on the value of the Bass angling fishery to the Irish economy.

Having done a fair amount of fishing in Ireland over the years, and organising a fishing competition there every September, I sent a letter to the Minister regarding this proposal, and our objections to it.  A report was also submitted to him from the Eastern Regional Fisheries Board opposing it.  I have since received a letter back from him stating that the Ministry had no intentions , at present, to open up commercial bass fishing.  GOOD NEWS !!

That is good news for the lads who’ve put a lot of work into opposing the re-opening.

I must have learned from others’ mistakes. I haven’t had time to think all those up myself.
