Neil - thanks very much for this very informative feature (and the others you have posted over time).

Today I registered for the CG66 scheme.
It was a year ago this month that I started looking into whether kayak fishing was viable in this country. I was, to be very honest, surprised at just how popular it actually is. I grew up in South Africa and did a fair bit of yak fishing in my teenage years. The conditions over there are nothing near as extreme as we get over here. After a disasterous maiden voyage off Berwick in March I have spent many an hour trawling through forums and articles to try and improve my knowledge of the area and of the sport in general. The massive amount knowledge i’ve gained over the last 9 months wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for the time and effort that the more experienced people have put in in writing features and articles like these.

Many thanks
Stephen

Cheers Stephen, the tenners in the post…. tongue wink

Seriously, I think everyone involved in the sport is on a steep learning curve. There’s lots of ideas and innovations bouncing about out there at the moment, some good, some bad. Even the people that have been at it for a few years are still learning and picking things up along the way, myself included.

Neil.

Have to admit that I enjoy your articles and posts Neil even though the only way I’ll get my [-Banned Word-] on a Yak is if there’s a catamaran version!

I must have learned from others’ mistakes. I haven’t had time to think all those up myself.
