Anyone going to this ??? Proposed date is Sunday 25th January 2009…theres a thread on WSF about it, I dont know why it aint on here tho’...there are some guys going from here, but dont know if everyone from PSF knows about it…
Hi Neil,. Aye your right mate…dreadful weather later on today….I did hear that the forecast aint too good for next week tho’...:(
I was over at Cammies today,. and him and Totty rewired the boat for me, fitted my new Transducer, new plotter, and flush mounted the radio.., WELL pleased ...they/we finished JUST on the first few drops of rain, then on the way home up the M9, torrential rain, and the wind was terrible…worst bit was just after Grangemouth….but got home safely…:)
See you next week hopefully, weather permitting…....BTW, isn’t it your turn to have Les as YOUR bitch that weekend????
Les….Mate.....Hope you are well….I eventually made it over to the “dark” side of the country , otherwise known as East Lothian…what a job Cammie, and Totty did…....so much so, that the boat is waiting to get onto Etive….its gonny be all shiny and polished too..
I wouldnt mind a wee go on a log either…one thing tho’, what HP engine does it have…:):)
BTW, I forgot, and better tell ye before I get grassed up…..I woke up this morning to a flat tyre on the trailer, AND a car sitting right across the road from the “drive”...so, as usual, was in a hurry, and changed the wheel…put on the nuts, and dropped the trailer back down…coupled on the car, did a 14 point turn the wrong way up the street…and we’re away…Cammy here we come..!!! bombing up the M9…has a look in the mirror…and the “Flat” was wobbling all over the bleedin place….so, onto the shoulder, and had a look…carp!! I hadnt tightened up the nuts!!! just put them on with my hand!!!

Lucky, that was more than lucky!!!!!
ahh these things happens old boy dont worry about it these are the perils of being a pensioner
Well I did finaly manage to get afloat today after a horrendous drive of 180 miles through snow and gale force winds. .
I was contemplating turning back on several occasions but thankfully my insanity kept me going….. ;D
Arriving at the launch site, I took one look at the narrows and thought “where the hell are we going to fish?”. It was blowing gale 8 at this point but was dying away quickly…...
A rather swift paddle through the Bonawe Narrows and we were in the shelter of the quarry. A fishless hour or so was enough to force me into paddling against the tide and wind to make our way back up the loch to deeper water…
( Excuse the picture quality from here on, it was pis*ing with rain and I had to revert to the trusty waterproof optio)
A few drifts over the rough ground at the quarry produced my first species of the day a little poor cod…
The wind was still too strong for drifting this ground so I crossed the loch and tied off to a Buoy in 250 foot. No sooner had the bait hit the bottom I was winding in a wee whiting.
The wind had dropped a bit by now and we had realised that after being on the go since 4am it was now 11.45am and I was gagging for a cuppa. We were soon a shore for lunch, well maybe not lunch as such, I left my food in the car…..
Brian was kind enough to give me an oatmeal biscuit, so fully refreshed and nourished I went back out to try and find some better fish…
It was to be one of those day’s, I couldn’t buy a spurdog today, the boats next to me were hauling in TBR’s galore as well….(ugly buggers they were)
I finished off the afternoon tied up to a buoy catching whiting two at a time, interrupted briefly with a nice Coalfish…...
And then swiftly followed by a Grey Gurnard…..
And then a little Codling…..
Soon after the cold set in and the thought of driving back though the Western Highlands brought me back to the shore early. I wasn’t alone though, everybody else had the same idea and we were soon loaded up and on the road for home. Thankfully the snow had cleared and the journey home was uneventful.
No that was Stephen and Scotty that stopped there.
We booted it on to Calendar to the Tasty Cod, and very tasty it was as well. We were out of the shop and back in the car before any boats came past. A funny day today, that was the slowest journey ever this morning to get there, tonight though, was the quickest ever return !
I made it home, 176 miles, in 3 hours and 15 minutes. That was including a chippy stop. If you think that’s quick….. I was following a nutter in a fourtrak towing a trooper, he was on a mission. Cheers Ian, you kept me going…......
p.s…......... that was a nice Plaice you had today Norrie…..........
LOL, I didnt time the journey, as I was “backseating ” it….a great way to travel/sleep/eat etc etc..
I usually do it in 2 hours dead..but thats mne towing,..we got stuck behind a french car..20mph!!, then a wood lorry, 20MPH…..but got home in good time i think…I slept a fair bit of the way…hard work being a skipper you know..
following a nutter in a fourtrak towing a trooper, he was on a mission. (quote)
neil if you were following a fourtrak towing a trooper you would not be home yet.
what you were following was a fourtrak towing a warrior now they can go.
