Dave Brown Is The Sole Man

The good fishing continues this week on the Fylde coast and low water is producing the much bigger fish with hounds, bass and sole all showing. The best bait by far at the moment is ragworm although crab and black lugworm are also working well.

Last Sunday Dave Brown pumped some large yellow tail lug which filled his 2/0 hooks. With a northerly wind kicking up the surf he headed down at low water to try for a bass. His first cast resulted in two big sole and he ended up with nine sole and missed a couple. He also had a couple of tope pups but failed on the bass front.

Last Sunday Fleetwood and District Angling Club fished over low water at Cleveleys. At first there was a stiff north east wind but in the last hour it died away. The hot weather has put the fish off a bit, but half the twelve anglers fishing caught fish.

Ray Rodger was the winner on the night with three small smoothhounds. Craig Thompson was second with a bass, an eel and a smoothhound. Crab and rag worm seemed to be the most successful baits.
