Night Fishing Best On Lancashire Coast

by Jordan Russell

lancashire latest news logoThe Lancashire sea fishing continues to provide some fantastic sport particularly after dark when the fish are most abundant. The Autumn species are around in good numbers including whiting, dogfish, rays, hounds, baby tope, bull huss, bass and the odd codling.

Worm baits such as black lugworm and ragworm seem to be the most productive at the moment along with sandeel.

The Gynn Wall is producing at night but not so much in the day, the better fish have been caught at Cleveleys and Rossall from the beach over both low and high water.

It will intriguing to see what this week brings as we have a low pressure front coming in which is going to bring cloudy and windy days.

Fleetwood and District Angling Club fished Marine Beach last Sunday and enjoyed a lovely day weather wise, blue skies, warm with just a ripple on the sea. However, kids paddling at the edge coupled with another match taking the best pegs and jet skis scooting about did not bode well for the fishing.

Fifteen anglers fished, seven caught fish. Only flounders and plaice caught no round fish. Did not matter what bait was used, for the most part it came in untouched.

Barry Critchley came out on top today with a flounder.
